Texas-based studio Lake|Flato Architects imagined this modern lake house retreat, constructing it right into the hillside to take advantage of its pristine lakeside views in Marble Falls, Texas. The architects devised the home to be spread out over three levels.
The main living spaces are housed on the top floor, nestled just above the tree line to take advantage of the almost 180 degree views out to the lake. According to the architects, “the third floor north facing glazed wall offers unobstructed views of the lake, while punched openings give glimpses of the rugged hillside behind, showcasing the counterpointed landscapes.”
Further emphasizing the to unique landforms on this property, the water and the rugged hillside, a cantilevered deck on the top level extends out to the lake, while a bridge anchors into the hillside and interlinks the home to its surrounding environment.
On the two lower levels there are four separate bedroom retreats, each with their own en-suite bathrooms. The circulation pathways are all on the exterior of the home, this encourages guests to spend more time outdoors, appreciating what nature has to offer from city life.
What We Love: This weekend getaway home offers a relaxing and inviting atmosphere with spectacular lakeside views that are maximized through expansive windows of glass and viewing decks. The separation of living spaces helps to create private zones to spend time with visiting guests but to also have time to oneself on the lower bedroom levels.
