Warm and inviting West Coast farmhouse with breathtaking views

This stunning West Coast farmhouse was interior designed by Scavullo Design Interiors, located in the private gated community of Tehama, in Carmel Valley, California. The community itself is a 2,000 acre preserve owned by Clint Eastwood, dedicated to sustaining the land. The coastal estate property is just minutes away from the beach, shopping and dining in Carmel-by-the-Sea or the Monterey Wharf. There is also a private golf club, adding to the luxuriousness of this home.

The scope of this project entailed building a dream house for a client from Connecticut, who was looking to have a “West Coast Farmhouse” aesthetic. The design team transplanted the homeowner’s East Cast roots into this West Coast property, resulting in this stunning farmhouse. From the exterior to the interior, architect William David Martin of Pacific Grove, CA turned the clients vision into a visionary work of art.

The focal point of this breathtaking family room is the fireplace, clad in locally sourced Carmel Stone. Surrounded by expansive walls of glass this stone, blends in perfectly with its natural habitat. The area rug was spotted by the designer on a shopping trip to Los Angeles, sourced from Mansour Rugs.

Above: The dining room features the Altar Hanging Light designed by Kevin Reilly, sourced from Holly Hunt. A double-sided fireplace creates a visual separation between the dining and living areas. Limestone flooring was hand selected in Jerusalem—running throughout the main living spaces on the first floor. Douglas Fir beams and casework were left as close to their natural hue as possible.

This intimate breakfast room is just off the kitchen, a spot to enjoy a cup of Joe and the spectacular mountain views in the distance. The woven leather dining chairs are by McGuire, as is the custom designed table with a metal base and walnut top. The furnishings creates a warm and welcoming space. Doors flanking the gazebo enables fresh ocean breezes to come through on hot summer days.

What We Love: This West Coast farmhouse features a material palette of warm and cozy hues that invites you to relax. Love the small details, such as the stone work in the family room fireplace and the flooring hand picked from Jerusalem in the main living spaces. This is what makes a house a home, all fine details that personalizes each space. Overall a beautiful design aesthetic, both indoors and out… Readers, what do you think? Could you picture yourself living in this home?
