Compact attic apartment provides stylish refuge in Sweden

scandinavian-home-01-1-kindesign

This newly built attic apartment showcases a functional open floor plan, located in the laid-back neighborhood of Linnéstaden, in Gothenburg, Sweden. Neighbored by Crow Meadow park, this home provides comfort and relaxation. A small footprint of only 365 square feet (34 square meters), this apartment feels open and spacious thanks to its clever layout.

The open design makes it possible to invite friends over without feeling over-crowded. The boundaries between indoors and out are blurred thanks to a large floor-to-ceiling window with access to a private, southerly facing terrace. The terrace decking is Cumaro wood, while the walls are clad with cedar panels.

The open floorplan provides a stylish and timeless kitchen on one wall with an adjacent dining area. The living room features a functional furniture arrangement, open to the dining/kitchen area. A bedroom alcove is well secluded from the apartment’s social areas. Here you can stargaze through the skylight, perfect for those who have trouble falling asleep.

Also included in the floorplan is a well-designed modern bathroom, with everything you could wish for. The vanity and toilet were sourced from Duravit. The faucets are from Tapwell. Underfloor heating and a heated towel rail provides maximum comfort underfoot. Recessed spotlights provide a pleasant light. A stackable washer and dryer also share the bathroom space.

What We Love: Although small, this attic apartment feels quite spacious thanks to an interior layout that was thoughtfully planned. Comfortable furnishings that are scaled to accommodate for the size of the home also helps to make a difference in the ease of movement from one space to the next. The abundance of light helps to keep the home feeling bright and airy. White paint also helps to make this small apartment home feel spacious. The small terrace allows additional livable space and simple access to the outdoors for a breath of fresh air!

Is the kitchen faucet also from Ikea?
