This luxurious desert contemporary showhome was conceived by design-build firm Blue Heron, located in Seven Hills in the McCullough Mountains of Henderson, Nevada. The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) selected this firm to design and build the 2013 New American Home. The design team acted as the architect, interior designer and builder for this three-story, 8,143 square foot residence. Offering dramatic views of the Las Vegas strip is just one of the numerous amazing features of this stunning property. Uniquely designed, the home showcases a desert-inspired courtyard and an open concept layout throughout its interiors. Outdoor living spaces are exquisite: an expansive sky deck, swim-up bar, full outdoor kitchen with state-of-the-art grills and a generous pool deck and spa with a private shower. At the side of the property, a “floating” covered patio is the ultimate in relaxation.
“The New American Home features multi-slide pocketing doors, which allow for cross-ventilation, enhancing the connection between the indoors and outdoors — and providing unobstructed views,” states Blue Herson. “In addition, water features throughout the home help humidify and cool the air in the summer months, reducing operating costs of the home, using less energy and improving air-quality.”
“Additional green features include a gas HVAC system, solar hot water heater with gas fired back-up, solar panels and closed spray foam insulation that also reduces sound transmission through plumbing walls,” states Blue Heron. “It also includes a weather-sensitive system that collects rainwater to assist in irrigation during dryer weather, tankless hot water heaters, hydronic air handlers, intelligent fireplaces and sustainable building materials.”
According to the Blue Heron’s website: “The 2013 New American Home includes renewable building materials and green amenities. The home has been constructed to achieve “Emerald” certification under the ANSI-approved ICC 700 National Green Building Standard and “Platinum” certification by Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), the two highest ratings within the industry.” Two Trails Green Building Consultants helped this home to achieve its certifications.
What We Love: This desert contemporary home offers us plenty of luxury mixed with sustainable design features and fantastic surroundings. The indoor-outdoor connection throughout this home is incredible. The use of materials, finishes and furnishings is awe-inspiring. Every space is beautifully crafted… but we especially love the outdoor living spaces, the swimming pool is heavenly!
