Avocado Sweets Design Studio renovated this wonderful apartment for a family, full of vitality and brimming with color, located in Islington, a district in greater London, England. The home was originally a rental property that was dark and dingy and needless to say, not being rented. The design team came in and added life to this dilapidated space, infusing a variety of clever design tricks and hidden technology, which includes skirting board heating (a central heating system that disguises radiators in aluminium skirting boards, getting rid of unsightly conventional radiators so furnishings can be placed anywhere). Another great idea incorporated into the design scheme was a vertical lego play wall in the living room, helping to maximize the sense the space without having to extend an inch!

In the image above, an exposed brick wall is covered with clever ways to store outdoor items to make them easily accessible. A functional vintage gym bench serves as a great space to sit down to put your shoes on before heading out the door. Not to mention it features extra cubby space underneath to store shoes and bicycle helmets. The designers took full advantage in this design by using cutting-edge and vintage products, creating an visually pleasing home that offers functional living spaces for the whole family to enjoy. Not only that, the interiors are bursting with color, texture and tons of fun!

The designer makes full use of the staircase by tucking the piano underneath to create a music room within the living area. The original ceiling was removed to reveal the wood support trusses, adding texture and character.

What We Love: The playful use of color, range of textures and unique features creates a delightful apartment that is warm and inviting and just plain great eye candy!
