Tips for Creating a Christmas Table Centerpiece
- Keep it low. Aim for about 12 inches or less, so guests can see and talk to each other across the table. Tall candles are fine, since you can see past them.
- Start with greenery. Lay fresh pine, cedar, or faux pine garland down the center of the table as a base, then build the rest of the centerpiece on top.
- Layer your lighting. Mix candles in different heights and add a strand of battery-operated fairy lights for sparkle. LED candles are a safer choice next to dry greenery.
- Add color with what’s in season. Fresh cranberries, pears, pomegranates, and citrus are inexpensive and look beautiful tucked into greenery or set in glass bowls.
- Finish with a little shine. A few red ornaments, mercury glass votives, or gold accents add a festive touch without crowding the table.
