A cape style home on Martha’s Vineyard with warm and inviting interiors

Patrick Ahearn Architect has designed this stunning cape-style home located in Edgartown, a classic New England seaport village on Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. When the owners purchased a vacant 6-acre parcel, they knew they wanted to build a home with an authentic sense of place on the wooded lot.

To accomplish that in a new build, the project team turned to architecture with a sense of implied history that ties to the island’s centuries-old farming culture, with materials and forms supporting the narrative bar. Continue below to see the rest of this beautiful house tour…

The new cape-style residence attaches to a carriage house wing via a stepped-down connector, while an adjacent barn references earlier times with its simplified form and board and batten siding. Interiors feature a modern layout designed to encourage new summer memories and to gather both indoors and out comfortably.

What We Love: This cape-style home offers its inhabitants warm and welcoming living spaces, from the cozy living room with its floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace to the luminous kitchen designed for entertaining. Large windows frame serene views of the surrounding landscape, creating a harmonious blend of comfort and connection to nature. Overall, we are loving every detail of this Martha’s Vineyard retreat.
