Evolve Design Works is responsible for the design of this cozy A-Frame cabin retreat that is nestled amongst the ponderosas and sugar pines of North Lake Tahoe, California. This family getaway home combines a quintessential cabin with a modern retreat. Drawing inspiration from the natural surroundings, the project team balanced minimalism with homey, vintage finds.
Inside the 2,800-square-foot floor plan, you will find space-saving selections that help the owners easily accommodate their extended family. Highlights include five bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms, a loft, a family room, a spacious laundry room, and plenty of storage areas.

This cabin was modeled after the European Passive Haus concept. The energy efficiency and interior environment far exceed California standards. The clean, modern finishes create a bright, airy space while maintaining a cozy cabin vibe. Large triple-pane windows provide abundant natural light throughout and wonderful views of the surrounding pines.

The home combines classic cabin elements such as the A-frame structure, cedar exterior, exposed beams, and wood ceilings, along with clean lines and modern updates such as minimal black metal window frames, slab panel doors, and fresh white walls. These elements help keep the space feeling bright and current while providing an ideal setting for modern, minimalist furnishings.

The densely forested surroundings inspired the layered wood finishes used in this cabin, including the thick cedar-slab dining table and the redwood exterior.

What We Love About This A-Frame Cabin
This cabin retreat in Tahoe provides a wonderful respite for family and friends to gather in the tranquility of a forested landscape. The floor plan was designed to feel larger than its size, using clever design elements to make the home feel open and airy. Large windows frame captivating views and flood the home with natural light. Overall, we are loving the design of this warm and inviting escape.
