Once a dairy farm, this exceptional piece of land in Millbrook, New York, dating back to 1839, had an antique farmhouse and four substantial barns. Although the barns were in disrepair, the homeowners had a vision of creating a family compound, using the barns for gathering spaces and guest suites. I have to wonder how on earth they clean each of those exposed trusses, they were all likely covered in horse and straw dust originally. The fact that the wood grain can look so nice and… clean is remarkable. I have always been interested in this. I am sixteen, planning to start making payments on a residence by 19 or so. A barn conversion would be really neat, and I can start fresh. Unlike a 100 year old house, the barn will be wired by an experience electrician up to my standards while I am watching and making sure it’s… Read more »

Pressure washing would remove all the junk, then finish the wood once it’s clean.
