Crafted by Eskuche Design Group in collaboration with Hendel Homes, this custom dream house is nestled along Pleasant Lake in the North Oaks neighborhood of Minnesota. This active family loves to entertain and host large gatherings, so they built a home that offers the perfect blend of functionality and casual elegance, with a down-to-earth aesthetic that invites people in.
The design is anchored in Old English masculinity, with a stone facade, chimneys for the fireplaces, real copper elements such as gutters, custom grout colors, and a wash on the stone to give it an aged, worn-in appearance. The home also has two separate four-door garages to store the car collection.

The home is built with ruggedness to withstand wear and tear from the family and their frequent visitors. Furniture is casually sophisticated, and looks like it can host dinner parties one night, forts and pillow fights the next night, and large, lazy family movie nights.

Dark paint colors anchor some of the interior spaces, with gold accents on cabinet hardware and light fixtures, geometric prints on wallpaper, custom tile, and custom millwork. The kitchen features a custom Blue Star stove with a plaster hood that complements the cabinetry’s pronounced linear grain, and a trio of black light pendants over an island topped with durable black quartz. Bedrooms and home offices are decorated in lighter color palettes and dusty blue or green accents.

Toward the back of the house, the main-level family room’s focal point is a limestone fireplace surround facade from Francois & Co., oversized wooden beams, and soaring two-story windows that overlook Pleasant Lake and let natural light flood the space.

The spacious home features five bedrooms and eight bathrooms, plenty of space to accommodate overnight guests. The basement includes a half basketball court with a disco ball mounted on the ceiling (because you never know).

The outdoor living space includes a seating area with a custom fire feature, a pool, a hot tub, and multiple additional seating areas for hosting friends and family. The homeowners also created a custom outdoor kitchen with an outdoor bar and lounge areas, a TV, and heaters to keep out the chill of Minnesota weather, so the family can use the outdoor space well into the fall and again starting in early spring.
