Rehkamp Larson Architects has designed this stunning rustic lakefront cabin located in Round Lake, a town in Sawyer County, Wisconsin. This family cabin feels like just that – a cabin. A material palette of chinked log siding, recycled timbers, wall and ceiling boards and natural stone enhance the feeling of being on retreat – out of the city.
The center log-clad 1.5 story anchors a private master bedroom wing to the north and a public living room/screen porch wing to the south. The floor plan is open, with structure and ceiling height defining the spaces. Painted window sashes, interior doors and colorful cabinets play well next to the rustic wood.

Patterned concrete tile at the kitchen backsplash is a nod to historic quilting patterns, a craft tradition in Wisconsin culture. A detached garage leaves the cabin free of this modern necessity. The revitalized boat house is painted red for easy identification from the water and ties back to the red windows on the cabin.
What We Love: This rustic lakefront cabin offers a spacious and inviting family getaway for relaxing and entertaining. Interior living spaces are designed with a beautiful mix of materials and furnishings to create a warm atmosphere. Windows throughout this home frame tranquil views of the lake while flooding the spaces with natural light. Overall the project team did a fabulous job of crafting a timeless retreat that can be enjoyed by family for years to come.
