What We Love: This modern glass house was designed to soak in the surrounding views from woods to a tranquil wetland. Expansive walls of glass also flood the interiors with natural light, keeping the interiors feeling light and airy. The use of wooden elements in the facade helps to blend this home into its environment. All of these strong details make this home just as unique as its setting.

This home is defined by three wood clad wings, connected by a glass-encased entry links. The layout of these structures helps to form an arrival courtyard, which is complemented by a free-standing “mystery structure” — the shed. The design of this detached storage shed is intended to be an antithesis to the house. “It dissolves into the woods by fragmented reflections of the surroundings,” states the architects.
On the exterior facade, this house features a dark-stained cedar wood, glass, and a stone base. The finish on this house is intended to help this home blend in with its surroundings. The color mimics the bark of the trees on the property.
This home was designed for a couple of empty nesters, with a strong desire for a warm, clean and uncluttered living spaces. The interiors boast crisp white walls, walnut flooring, and exposed wood beams on the ceiling. There is a consistent connection to nature throughout this home.
There are three wings in this home, which consists of a living/work wing, a master wing, and a garage/workshop wing. The living/work structure is characterized by an open volume. It is organized by the placement of a freestanding cube, which contains one side of the kitchen, along with utility functions. This cube is also used as a visual delineation between the living, kitchen, dining areas and the wine and office behind.
Walnut cabinetry is captured within this home’s structural frame and glass.
A bluestone and blackened steel fireplace is the focal point of this open volume living space. This material helps to visually integrate with the bluestone terrace and pergola outside, which overlooks the wetland below.
