Prentiss Balance Wickline Architects crafted this spectacular two-story contemporary cabin located north of Cashmere in Nahahum Canyon, Washington. Encompassing 1,650 square feet of living space, this sustainable dwelling is nestled into the hillside, with concrete retaining walls guiding the cabin’s form. Its narrow design and expansive overhangs are designed to take advantage of solar orientation while maximizing panoramic views.
Stepping inside this cabin, you are greeted by a double-story great room with full-height windows on both the north and south walls. The expansive windows frame the most dramatic down-canyon views. The living, dining, and kitchen spaces are oriented to the east, occupying most of the main floor. A power bathroom and utility area are set within the hillside portion of this dwelling.
What We Love About This Home
This fabulous cabin offers a unique layout, designed to take advantage of both views and sustainability. We are especially loving the concept of partially burying the home into the hillside. The living spaces have been designed with just enough room to live comfortably.

Above: On the upper level, you will find the owner’s bedroom suite, along with a guest bedroom and bathroom. There is also a loft-style flex space, which opens to the living room below.
