This modern farm house style home was designed and built by AMEK Custom Builders in collaboration with Martha O’Hara Interiors, located in The Wilds subdivision of Prior Lake, Minnesota. The challenge for the design team was to create a brand new residence that was the feel of a farm house. The result was a truly unique space that offers custom touches and and state-of-the-art materials, blending old with the new.
The exterior layout was designed to be welcoming, drawing visitors to the front entryway. Homeowners could welcome their neighbors and invite them to share in the experience of the outdoor fireplace built into the front porch. Inside you will find clean lines with modern amenities, infused with warm and rustic touches throughout. Designed to cater to the lifestyle needs of a busy family, this 3,500 square foot floor plan offers four bedrooms and four bathrooms.
Above: The exterior features LP SmartSide lap siding, which offers a more durable, longer-lasting and eco-friendly siding than wood. The white-painted siding complements the silver-gray tone of the standing-seam metal roof. This type of roofing material is the most durable and longest-lasting on the market. The paint manufacturer is SoPro and the color is white.
The main floor features an open concept floor plan, allowing for a smooth traffic flow between the great room, kitchen and dining areas. There is a connected, multi-generational ‘Flex Space’ bedroom, which can also be used as an apartment with a full bath, mini-kitchen and it’s own private entryway. On the second level, there are three bedrooms, two full baths and a laundry room just off of a loft area.
Above: The wood wall is approximately 10 x 9, clad with reclaimed Douglas fir. The light fixture above the dining table is from West Elm.
What We Love: This farm house style residence features innovative and beautiful design details throughout. From the inviting exterior facade with it’s cozy front porch and comfortable furnishings set around a fireplace, there is so much to love about this property. The warmth of wood on the flooring and accent walls adds to the overall welcoming ambiance of this farm house… Readers, what are your thoughts, could you picture your family living here?
