This refreshing riverfront residence with modern interiors was designed by Moor & Associates Architects along with interiors studio Olivia O’Bryan. Located in Florida, this home was designed to for a couple of empty nesters with two grown sons. The homeowners design style was to have a minimal yet traditional aesthetic. Since this is a new build, they wanted a floor plan that was comfortable and inviting. They felt they could spend most of their time in one open and airy space.
The goal for the interiors was to create a communal, informal space to enjoy the homeowners art collection while eating, watching television or lounging by the fireplace. A compact great room is connected to the master bedroom suite, laundry room and garage via a foyer/gallery. A breezeway separates this area from the office, library (with a large door that can accomodate a piano for entertaining) and guest bedrooms above.
The interiors were designed to maximize views of the Indian River Lagoon. Two sets of windows open to courtyards, which themselves serve as paintings. With this in mind, furnishings were kept more minimal so as not to detract from the lush surroundings. Nature also appears in the interiors, with the only pattern showcased in the artwork— watercolor florals and abstract prints.
What We Love: This striking riverfront residence was transformed it into an elegant yet casual, light-filled home. The white walls serves as a backdrop for the homeowners art collection and to not detract from nature that surrounds the home. The light concrete floors helps to make the interior space feel bright and airy.
