This modern organic beach cottage was designed by Heather A. Wilson Architect alongย with Cortney Bishop Design, located in the historic district of Sullivan’s Island,ย South Carolina. This custom homeย was constructed by local designer and builder Gray Wade Development. The design of the interior includes an open layout floorplan, which is a highly desirable feature for most homeowners.
The cottage is aย composition of simple forms derived from the beach-cottage vernacular of the island.ย The front of the facadeย is a raised simple cottage with a wrap-around porch that camouflages the larger living spaces behind. These living spaces, which includes a screened-in porch, opens out to a courtyard on the side of the house. This is completed by the studyโa special single-story vaulted room. The outdoor landscaping was designed by Charleston-based Sheila Wertimer.
The kitchen features a beautiful contrast of dark wood cabinetry on the island with white perimeter cabinets and white marble countertops and backsplash.
What We Love: This stunning beach cottage offers bright and airy living spaces that are designed for daily family living and entertaining. A modest facade opens to beautifully designed spaces with clean lines and stunning details throughout. We are especially loving the luminous kitchen and warm and cozy breakfast nook… and the children’s teepee is adorable!

Two sofas flank a floor-to-ceiling fireplace, the focal point of this space. The furniture arrangement is perfect for entertaining, encouraging conversation between family and friends.
