This six story narrow house was immaculately refurbished into a contemporary home by FORM Design Architecture, located on Betterton Street in London, England. A late 19th century building, this tall terraced home offers a narrow and deep footprint which was not well suited to its previous tenants, which used the space as offices. The architects then recommended to their client who is a developer to make a change of use to this structure. Planning Permission was granted, which was to slated this building to be turned into a luxurious four bedroom townhouse.
This exceptional property is currently listed for sale at $11,714,160, from here.
Description from the achitects:
Small changes to the section of the building created external spaces which allowed natural light to filter deep into the building envelope. A soaring six meters double-height kitchen / dining space opens onto a small new ground floor courtyard, whilst at the top an additional split-level studio floor has been added with terraces both front and rear. Redundant storage spaces were given new life as a state-of-the-art gym and cinema.
Fastidious detailing and a limited palette of top quality materials, combined with a fire-engineered approach to layout (removing the necessity for lobbies), have helped to devise a calm and restful interior offering great spatial flow between the six floors of accommodation.
