The home was thoughtfully created to meet the lifestyle needs of retired empty-nesters, offering comfort for two while also being flexible enough to host family gatherings with adult children and grandchildren.

Nestled on a serene corner within an established bungalow community, this modestly scaled courtyard design perfectly caters to the desires of its empty-nester owner. Their vision called for an open, airy layout that granted both privacy from the street and seamless indoor-outdoor transitions, ideally suiting their laid-back lifestyle.

Maintaining harmony with the low-slung scale of the neighboring cottages, the standing seam metal roofed structures step up in a pinwheel pattern, spanning from the front to the rear of the property. This design not only enhances the generous proportions of the home but also forms a naturally ventilated porch.

What We Love: This empty nester home in Dallas features an abundance of glazing while still offering plenty of privacy from the street considering its corner location. It offers a wonderful indoor-outdoor connection with the tranquil garden in the central courtyard, providing this home’s inhabitants with a relaxed living environment. Overall, the project team did a fabulous job of incorporating extensive glass that maximizes views while flooding the interiors with natural light.
