This contemporary family home was beautifully renovated by Wheeler Kearns Architects in collaboration with Andrea Goldman Design, located in Winnetka, a village in Cook County, Illinois. The scope of this project entailed a full-scale renovation of the first home Andrea Goldman had designed for her clients 15 years ago.
This project was all about creating balance: preserving all that the owners already loved about their home and how it lived, while also evolving it to fit the needs of their busy, social family. Spaces were reimagined for both the parents and the children, maximizing space within the current structure while also adding new structures.

New structures include a pool house with a guest suite and activity building housing exercise spaces, a sport court, and a golf simulation room. The activity building also features a four-seasons room that opens to the pool area for seamless indoor-outdoor living and entertaining for the whole family to enjoy.
The renovation modernized both the form and function of the kitchen, providing ample storage and prep space and an everyday dining area.
What We Love: This gorgeous Illinois home has been meticulously renovated, resulting in the perfect family dwelling. Its design highlights many fabulous details, including the abundance of natural light that floods through the living spaces. An inviting atmosphere and modern finishes provide a place of luxury and sophistication that makes a lasting impression. We are especially loving the transformed bedroom suite into an idyllic respite at the end of a long day.

Instead of paint or wallpaper, this dining room features delicate burlap fringe—applied by hand by artist Anna Wolfson—that adds sophisticated texture.
By relocating one of the bedroom closets to the lower level, the designer was able to create additional space for a spa-like ensuite bathroom with a freestanding tub.
A separate activity building and guest house adjacent to the original home houses ample entertaining space that opens to the pool and courtyard.
