An empty nesters dream home is designed for entertaining in Minnesota

contemporary-home-exterior

This contemporary dream home was designed for empty nesters by Swan Architecture in collaboration with Redpath Constable Interior Design, located in Minnesota. The architects titled the project “La Belle Vie” (The Beautiful Life), what the homeowners imagined for their dream house to be. A large yard that offers an abundance of outdoor recreation coupled with a seamless connection to indoor spaces was high on the priority list.

A comfortable studio office was also a vital factor as the clients work from home and wanted to maintain that flexibility. The Butterfly, our client’s favorite creature symbolizing transcendence, found whimsical moments throughout the project, most impactfully behind the front façade’s glass stair hall window on a floor-to-ceiling wall mural welcoming guests and family alike.

Neutral tones indoors and out promote a symbiotic balance for all to enjoy. The dynamic roofline and the oversized glass doors welcome you into this residence. The lush landscape frames the beautiful exterior.

Above: The design of this home was inspired by the life of the homeowners, empty nesters with grown children and grandchildren. A striking piece of artwork on the wall greets guests — a theme you will notice throughout the home. Typically, the selection of artwork is secondary, thought about after paint, furnishings, and lighting. The owners are passionate about art and have custom pieces throughout the interiors. Much of the art was sourced from local artist Otto Painting Design. Art actually drove many of the design decisions in this home.
