A lovely Scandinavian cottage in Minnesota makes the most of lake views

scandinavian-lake-cottage-exterior

This Scandinavian lake cottage was designed by Murphy & Co. Design, nestled into a 3-acre woodsy property of mature oaks and pines in Buffalo, Minnesota. Perched on a bluff 50 feet over the water’s edge, the design of this dwelling is inspired by authentic Norwegian influences mixed with nautical elements.

There is a total of 2,660 square feet of living space in this laid-back cottage with four bedrooms and three bathrooms. Step inside this hone to find a glassed entry breezeway that connects the owner’s suite with the main living spaces. This area features a series of French casements and a five-foot-wide front door that enables the cottage to open to cool breezes coming off the lake.

What We Love: This Scandinavian lake cottage features a welcoming breezeway that beautifully connects the private and public wings of the home. The vaulted timber ceiling features hand-made clay pendants, one of the many unique and customized details that can be found throughout this home. We are especially loving the screen porch that is connected to the kitchen via a pass-through window, perfect for entertaining.

Also on the property is this motor barn, clad in a historic channel groove siding and offset by custom garage doors and windows painted in British Racing Green. A series of corner push-out windows bring light and woodsy views into a hangout zone complete with stainless work counters, a butcher block center island, and a large audio/video area with a trio of vintage sound systems.
