This charming waterfront getaway was renovated by Michelle Dirkse Interior Design, located in the quaint maritime city of Gig Harbor, Washington. A family vacation home, the place was in need of a major overhaul, along with new furnishings and decor. The scope of this remodel project entails the following: adding a third bedroom within the existing footprint, improve the master bathroom layout, update the kitchen and refresh all of the finishes and fixtures.
To blend old with new, the designers preserved the original elements. This included the paneled walls, exposed beams and wood floor with bullet casing details while pairing them with modern flat front cabinets and a clean minimal soapstone fireplace. The new modern furniture is minimal yet comfortable while contrasting with the home’s architecture. To maintain the clean minimal look of the new fireplace, a low profile “frame tv” was installed above the gas insert.
What We Love: This charming waterfront getaway offers a beautiful new layout with comfortable furnishings and inviting aesthetics. Bright and airy living spaces create a welcoming feel for this family vacation home. Material elements of wood infuse warmth throughout while adding a cabin-esque feel to the overall design.
