This cottage style home is designed by City Homes in collaboration with Martha O’Hara Interiors, located in the Morningside area of Edina, Minnesota. Inspiration for the design of this home was its unique site — a secluded, woodsy lot in the heart of Edina. The house reflects the character of the lot, a relaxing oasis that gives the feeling of being outside the city.

A welcoming front porch invites visitors into this 5,272-square-foot, five bedroom and five bathroom countryside home. In addition to a stellar location, the home itself is beautiful. Inside, an open and spacious great room and family room creates an inviting gathering space, while a gourmet kitchen comes complete with a support prep kitchen.

Unique features include a Minnesota Room—an extension of the main living space—with a stone fireplace and large oversized structural wood beams, emulating an actual timber frame structure. With large windows and magnificent views, the vibe in this room is like that of being in a screened-in porch, only used year-round as an entertainment and family space.

A spacious second floor master suite, set above the pines, feels like a treetop retreat. The lower level is all about entertaining with a 12-foot custom wood bar—created with wood from a tree on the lot—and a beer tap built into the brick wall.

What We Love: This cottage style home offers it’s inhabitants a comfortable and relaxing oasis outside of the city. A spacious open floor plan invites both family gathering and entertaining in style. Our favorite space in this home is the beautiful four-season sunroom. A cozy space to enjoy the warmth and ambiance of a fire while relaxing with family and friends or curling up with a good book.
