The Residency Bureau has reimagined this warm and inviting getaway home as a family escape from the hustle and bustle of city life and busy careers in Washington’s San Juan Islands. The owners, a family of four, sought out this post and beam home, desiring a relaxing respite nestled along the water and surrounded by trees. While the bones of the home and adjacent log cabin were still in decent shape, they required a facelift to echo the playful aesthetic of the homeowners.
The project team took their design cues from the surrounding terrain for this seaside retreat, creating a colorful yet peaceful retreat for accommodating family and friends. In the family room, you will find a cozy atmosphere that is inspired by the views of Garrison Bay, while a fireplace provides a haven for those looking for warmth and ambiance. What We Love: This San Juan Island getaway home offers ample sleeping space for hosting overnight guests while remaining uncluttered and serene. We love how the designer opted for a warm color palette in this home instead of the traditional faded white wood and turquoise in most seaside homes. Borrowing inspiration from the surrounding trees, this home is s filled with natural textures, cozy materials, and organic elements that blend beautifully with the tranquil island setting.
Tell Us: Would this be your idea of the ultimate retreat for family gatherings? Let us know why or why not in the Comments below, we enjoy reading your feedback!

Throughout this retreat, the designer used a lot of linen and wool for texture and warmth. She also used performance fabrics or added fabric guard to the furniture upholstery for wear and tear.
