This brand new farmhouse style home was given a fresh and inviting character by Dillon Kyle Architects, located in a rural community in Houston, Texas. The dwelling is a reinterpretation of iconic elements of rural architecture with a contemporary spin. The architects designed the home with the inclusion of rolling barn doors, exposed trusses and wood siding—refined in design, but true to function.
The heart of this farmhouse is the double volume living/dining room, showcasing a dual-sided fireplace clad with thin, crisply chiseled slices of Pennsylvania bluestone that rises dramatically to the ceiling. The great room occupies one wing of the floor plan; while a guest suite and patio are the link to the other wing, which houses the family’s bedrooms, baths, and offices. These personal spaces continue the distinctive aesthetic of the great room, yet reflects a more intimate scale.
What We Love: Bright and airy interiors with comfortable living spaces characterizes this inviting farmhouse style home. The wood flooring not only adds warmth, it helps to ground the interiors. The cozy furniture arrangements encourages family interaction and makes for simple entertaining. French doors in the great room provides a nice indoor-outdoor connection and bathes the space with natural light… Readers, are you a fan of farmhouse style homes?
