Designed by Michael Rex Associates, this incredible cliff house is perched to showcase city and bay views, located in the heart of Sausalito, a San Francisco Bay Area city in Marin County, California. Nestled across from Richardson’s Bay, this modern pad offers sweeping views of San Francisco, Alcatraz, Angel Island and the Raccoon Strait. The structure boasts 2,100 square feet of living space, with the first level beginning at twenty feet above grade. Rising to a height of 50 feet, the residence offers a double volume living room, kitchen, dining room and three bedrooms. The master bedroom suite encompasses the entire upper level. This level includes a master bedroom and terrace, coffee bar, home office, dressing room and a master bathroom with an adjoining private terrace.

The property sits on a steep slope that was designed to take advantage of the views, while at the same time not blocking the views of the properties above it. With advanced engineering to design and build the home, this wood, glass and steel structure sits high above the home below it. There are several private outdoor terraces that helps to extend the usable living space. Below is a street level parking garage that includes elevator access to the home.

this is a really nice looking house. it seems a bit impractical, though.

these structures look good when they are new, but when people commission these things, i wonder if they think about how practical it will be to maintain them. the exterior cladding on that house is probably going to have to be re-stained every couple of years. look at that house and ponder how big of an undertaking that might be – *every other* year.

Ha, someone building in Sausalito, CA, with an exclusive architect, is not going to worry about maintenance. It’s like buying a large fuel guzzling boat, the owner is not worried about paying for the fuel. This is a beautiful place and PERFECT for the views this area offers, i.e. priceless views. Well done.
