This beautiful modern family home was renovated by Wade Design Architects in collaboration with Jennifer Robin Interiors, located in St. Helena, California. This fresh, modern and dynamic home is nestled in the heart of Napa Valley wine country. It serves as a weekend getaway for a busy San Franciso-based family of five and their large extended family. A main living space features an open concept living, dining and kitchen area.
It is quintessential California living, with a strong indoor-outdoor connection. A pathway outside leads to a guest house. The homeowners requested that the designers infuse the home with warmth, while at the same time incorporating an understated elegance. However, everything also needed to be very durable with a family that has three young children. They wanted everything to be low-maintenance and stain-proof; where they can entertain but also have the kids freely play indoors and out without worry.
The 3,500 square foot home is characterized by modern design details and playful pops of color. It also reflects the regions signature style, both indoors and out. After 18 months of transforming the interiors into the homeowners new vision, it became a warm and inviting family abode. The original cold concrete flooring was replaced with ebonized-oak flooring. Reclaimed cabinetry was given a fresh start in the great room.
An addition to the home features an upper level media room and play space. The master bathroom was given a fresh update by maximizing its southern exposure and garden vistas. Additional updates includes a wraparound porch and bi-fold doors, helping blur the boundaries between indoors and out. Contemporary touches were infused into the home, such as the jade green backsplash tiles in the kitchen. These were sourced from Heath Ceramics. This helps to connect the space to the landscape.

What We Love: This stunning modern family home offers a wonderful indoor-oudoor connection. The surrounding property offers a cozy atmosphere to make this a relaxing weekend getaway. Comfortable furnishings, playful pops of color, a nice flow between spaces, there is a lot to love in this home… Readers, what do you think of this home? What is your favorite detail?
