Mediterranean style abode in Texas gets refreshing and stylish update

This Mediterranean style vacation home was renovated by Marie Flanigan Interiors in conjunction with Wiley Homes, located in the private coastal town of Bellaire, Texas. When the homeowners purchased this 5,500 square foot, five-bedroom home, they were looking to give it a fresh update.

Most importantly, they wished to renovate the most significant spaces of the residence. This included the entryway, living room, dining room, kitchen, powder bathroom, and master bedroom suite. This took just over six months to complete. The goal of the project was to create open and bright interiors that are comfortable for family living.

Keeping in mind that this is a vacation home, the design team worked on creating spaces that are soothing, serene and inviting. An environment where the family can comfortably relax and entertain in style. The entire first floor got more modernized, beginning with a gut renovation of the kitchen and master bathroom — right down to the studs.

The original hardwood floors were refinished, while custom alder wood doors were installed in both the master bedroom and bathroom. Steel doors and windows were installed throughout the first level. The windows helped to better capture the beautiful lush landscaping outside.

Above: The island is a honed vanilla marble and the perimeter is honed soapstone with a custom integrated soapstone sink. Richly colored island cabinets are painted in Benjamin Moore Stormy Sky. Above the island is the Gibson Pendant from Urban Electric, finished in polished nickel.

What We Love: This Mediterranean style home is a celebration of earth tones and texture, creating an aesthetically stunning vacation home.
