This rustic contemporary ranch house was designed by Poetzl Architecture + Design along with Angelica Henry Design, located in Phoenix, Arizona. This family home offers all the luxuries of a five star hotels all the while maintaining the intimacy of a cozy mountain lodge. Offering 8,000 square feet of sumptuous living space, you will notice rustic-luxury from the moment of entry. Spaces integrate aged materials injected with warmth, texture and plenty of personality to boot. “These finishes were balanced with plush carpeting, draperies and other soft touches”, stated Henry. The overall aesthetic of this home is a distinctive, rustic-style retreat offering five-star luxury at its finest.
The foyer is reminiscent of a water silo, which comes complete with glass water drops—as seen in the light fixture overhead. The goal of this project was to conceal modern technologies while still being creative in the design process. This creativity can be seen in the family room fireplace design that conceals a television, to the light fixtures and furnishings and the cabinetry—a man’s walk-in closet features an island cabinet with a pop-up television. Red Rock Contractors also worked on this project, charged with the task of constructing the home, designing a man cave apartment, all the outdoor living spaces and amazing spa and swimming pool.
The design team faced several challenges when building this rustic contemporary ranch house. This included addressing scale and proportion in each of the spaces to create a sense of intimacy. Clean lines and a rich material palette are reflected throughout the interiors, creating warmth and comfort. The designer sourced stunning architectural light fixtures, a large collection of contemporary/southwest artwork, high-end appliances and luxurious furnishings. Every detail was accentuated to create eye-catching visuals throughout, from the main living spaces to the bedrooms, private theater to even an air-conditioned garage… there is also a man cave guest apartment on the property!
What We Love: This spacious and luxurious ranch house feels very livable thanks to intimately designed spaces and added warmth in the material and finish selections. In spite of the sophisticated design and elegant refinements throughout, this property is very much a family home.
** Readers, this is an extremely unique multi-million dollar rustic contemporary ranch house design. We would love to hear your opinions on it. What do you like most about the property, would you do anything differently with design?
In the family room, the interior designer created a custom designed cattle brand for this ranch house. It reflects a beautiful art piece on the wood fireplace wall, which also conceals a television. The art piece brings together the finishes that have been integrated throughout the home. This includes steel, charred wood and rebar.

This outdoor garden oasis is a private area off the master bathrooms, designed for the homeowners to shower, relax and enjoy some fresh air.
Above is another fine example of the ingenious water features displayed throughout this custom designed ranch house. Floating steps traverse over a Lautner-inspired edge detail, which enables water to continuoulsy flow off the edge of the astroturf.

There are 30 jets in this spa that features infinity edges and an expansive fire bar hanging off the edge. The mote and interiors are all glass tile. Spectacular design, we are loving it!
The front gate to this rustic contemporary ranch house makes quite the statement. Board formed planter structures are set next to gabion column bases to form the gate. A unique mailbox adds the finishing touch.
