A renovated home inย Hingham, Massachusetts, Meadow View Residence byย LDa Architectsย addresses the living needs for a family of five to help further enhance their ‘together’ time. The architects were enlisted to make several updates to this 5,500 square foot, five-bedroom home, all the while maximizing the connection between the lush, sunlit backyard and the interior living spaces. The spaces that were updated includes areas where the family spends the majority of their bonding time, the kitchen, breakfast nook and family room. The master bathroom was also given a complete overhaul, and why not, adults need an extra special personal space they can look forward to enjoying… the new soaker tub does look quite relaxing after a strenuous day! The homeowners worked closely with the design team to help personalize their spaces, adding some sophisticated style. The updated spaces are unfussy yet every durable, infused with a neutral palette of materials and textures that imbue the family’s personal interests and style.

The waterfall kitchen island is topped with white Caeserstone quartz that is three inches thick and features barstool chairsย designed by Norman Cherner, sourced from here. The island measures in at 14-1/2 in length by 4-1/2 in width, plenty of generous space for cooking and entertaining. A wall of cabinets behind the island reveals pantry doors that open up for plenty of functional storage. The front of the island provides convenient access to refrigerator doors, as well as a second oven and a microwave drawer. Theย kitchen was designed by Venegas and Company, using white oak for the cabinetry with a brushed milk paint finish in a warm gray pewter.

What We Love: Light-filled interiors and a remarkable transformationย that encourages family togetherness makes this renovation project a success. Since this family lived in several places across the globe for work, this is their first real home together that is not a rental property. It has a real sense of place that will make this a spectacular first time family home for years to come! What do you think of this renovation project?

The perimeter countertops feature Black Okite quartz, which contrasts beautifully with the white quartz on the island. The backsplash is a polished white mosaic tile, that provides a nice contrast with the countertop.

The dining space was furnished with classic pieces that includes an oval-shaped dining table by Eero Saarinen, armchairs byย Norman Cherner and a George Nelson Bubble Lamp Criss Cross Pendant suspended over the table sourced from here.
