In the countryside, just outside of the Majorcan town of Llubí, this stunning Mediterranean home retains the flavor of old while expressing a rich contemporary language. Designed by architect Pep Ramon and Damian Sanchez Interior, this countryside home had been long uninhabited and in need of a major renovation and restoration. Traditional construction methods were employed, infested with charming details and a very modern aesthetic. The proposal was to give enough comfort to inhabit the home all year and to accommodate large family gatherings for the holidays. After some structural adjustments to adapt the spaces to the new requirements, many of the original elements and materials were retained, helping to create the desired atmosphere.

This respect for the building and the environment has been one of the resources used to achieve cozy spaces with soul. In them, a neutral base was selected in the materials with soft undertones, punctuated by pops of bright accents in upholstery and occasional furniture were added. You will find everything from pastel strokes mixed with acid colors, very trendy, with everything surrounded by warm lighting.

Masonry walls set nicely against bleached oak wood flooring. Industrial grade iron is used for the central staircase railings and risers. Some interior doors were recovered, while others were purchased from an antiques dealer. To achieve a rejuvenating aesthetic balance, old pieces are mixed with contemporary furnishings, fabrics of jute and selected works of art. Decorative lamps were selected in keeping with the rustic character of the building, achieving maximum effect in both size and original designs. According to the designer, the color range is one of the assets most accomplished. He employed a tone stone with stucco effect, which combines perfectly with the warm finishes in furniture and fabrics.
