This turn-of-the-century shingle-style home was beautifully reimagined by Patrick Ahearn Architect, situated in the picturesque village of Osterville, Massachusetts. The property had been in the family for generations and necessitated a complete renovation and expansion, including updates to the main residence along with the addition of a multi-function carriage house, pool, and cabana.
The main house was taken down to the studs. A once-cluttered maze of rooms was replaced to better meet the lifestyle needs of a modern family. Symmetry and balance were introduced by centering the front door, adding a pair of chimneys to the roofline, and rhythmically placing windows on the exterior. New bay windows grace the front and rear gambrels, as do double-decker porches, which add romance and character.
On the interior, a central gallery seamlessly connects the homeโs interior, linking the first and second floors to the front and back decks. Light and airy rooms are clad with custom millwork and crown molding, combining elegance with functionality.
Outdoors, the thoughtfully designed layout takes full advantage of the half-acre property, offering inviting spaces for relaxation and recreation. Guest quarters above the carriage house, along with a swimming pool, ensure hosting guests is effortless, making this home a fabulous summertime getaway.
