Jamie Bush is responsible for the design of this inspiring modern refuge nestled high in the private mountain community of Martis Camp, just outside Lake Tahoe, California. This attractive vacation retreat was designed for a young family looking to escape their busy lifestyle in Silicon Valley. The vision for this refuge was to create a bold, modernist design with materials that would patina well over time, blending with the natural landscape.
A layering of material elements, such as gray fumed oak on the walls, black concrete and bleached walnut flooring, white cork wallcoverings, and antique brass and bronze fixtures, creates depth and texture in the interiors. Continue below to see more of this spectacular home tour…
The exterior facade comprises a palette of materials: stone, glass, blackened steel, and cedar. These material elements were carried into the interior, blurring the line between indoor and outdoor living spaces.
What We Love: This modernist refuge is visually attractive both inside and out, with fabulous material choices. The extensive use of glass helps capture the beautiful landscape of mature redwood trees surrounding the home. Spaces flow harmoniously from one to the next, creating a very livable home that is ideal for entertaining. We especially love the seamless indoor-outdoor connection. This home captures it perfectly!
