This coastal retreat is a breathtaking full-scale renovation from top to bottom by Thomas + Denzinger Architects, together with House of Nomad, nestled on Kiawah Island, South Carolina. The project goal of “Marsh Edge Escape” was to bring the outside in while creating a modern, minimal, sophisticated home for this well-traveled, art-enthusiastic couple to relax and unwind.
The designer sourced specialty materials, such as Moroccan zellige tile, for the backsplash and hood to create a refined yet relaxed atmosphere throughout. This retreat is full of vintage finds, including the coral stone entryway table and egret-legged side table, which pair perfectly with the couple’s extensive art collection. What We Love: This coastal retreat on Kiawah Island provides a beautifully inviting update throughout its living spaces, both indoors and out. Expansive windows and sliding glass doors help blur the lines between inside and outside, flooding the home with natural light while capturing idyllic views. Comfortable furnishings, organic textures, and calming hues create the perfect atmosphere for laid-back island living. Our favorite design feature in this home is the deck with its relaxing chaise lounges, infinity edge pool, and peaceful views.
