This stunning coastal shingle-style lake house on Silver Beach Road along Lake Michigan in Cedar Grove, Wisconsin, was designed by Deep River Partners, a Milwaukee-based residential architecture firm. Built as a multigenerational family retreat, the home blends timeless Coastal Shingle Style architecture with five-star amenities and state-of-the-art smart home technology.
The horizontal massing along the shoreline conforms to the natural visual edges of the landscape, while the siting of the home between the woods and the waterfront minimized environmental impact and maximized sweeping views of Lake Michigan. On the exterior, you will find weathered silver/gray shingles, copper accents, and a wood shingle roof punctuated by white trim and traditional divided lite windows. A palette that is as timeless as the style itself.
When it came to designing this custom lake home, the architects paid close attention to all the details. Created for family living, treasured memories will be made in this home that reflects a beautiful and intuitive design. Continue below for this incredibly inspiring home tour…

Resources: Materials, Paint Colors & Design Inspiration
Here is a curated resource list to help you recreate the look of this Lake Michigan beach house:
Exterior Materials
Cedar shingles (weathered silver/gray finish) — naturally weather to a driftwood gray over time
Wood shingle roof
Copper accent details
White painted trim
Traditional divided lite windows
Interior Materials
Grasscloth wall covering (textured natural fiber wallcovering; look for options from Phillip Jeffries or Serena & Lily)
French oak wide-plank hardwood floors
White painted woodwork and millwork
Built-up custom moldings and casework
LED integrated lighting throughout
Paint Colors to Recreate the Look
For the crisp white woodwork and trim seen throughout the interior, popular choices for this style include:
Benjamin Moore White Dove OC-17 — a warm, soft white favored in coastal and shingle-style interiors
Sherwin-Williams Alabaster SW 7012 — a creamy white that reads clean without being stark
Benjamin Moore Simply White OC-17 — bright but not cold, ideal for millwork
For walls and grasscloth accent tones, consider:
Benjamin Moore Pale Oak OC-20 — a warm greige that pairs beautifully with natural oak floors
Sherwin-Williams Agreeable Gray SW 7029 — a versatile warm gray for coastal interiors
For a shingle-style exterior in keeping with this home’s aesthetic:
Naturally weathered cedar shingles require no paint — they silver over time to the driftwood gray seen here
For trim: Benjamin Moore White Dove or Sherwin-Williams Greek Villa SW 7551
