Hutker Architects created this barn-inspired dream home for interior designer Jennifer Palumbo and her family, located in the charming village of Osterville, Massachusetts. This coastal home features a timber frame interior. The project called for a barn-like structure that should appear as it had always existed on the property, with additions around it. The barn is at the heart of the home, a common space with private living areas connected to the north and south.
Offering six bedrooms, this home also includes a cabana with an open-air pavilion alongside the swimming pool. White cedar shingles grace the exterior facade, while vertical western cedar boards cover the central barn structure. Standing-seam metal roof accents can be found on the covered porch, stair tower, and cupola—lending a farmhouse feel. Step inside the front door, and you will notice an “X” detail, while the hue of the door mimics the color of the ocean.

What We Love: This stunning home offers a barn-style meets-the-sea aesthetic both indoors and out. Timber-frame construction adds a warm and cozy feel, while breezy, contemporary accessories and clean lines bring a sophisticated touch. The designer has seamlessly created a design that meets the lifestyle needs of her family, laid-back living paired with refined aesthetics. Overall, the design encourages togetherness while also allowing private spaces to retreat.
