This traditional mountain house was beautifully designed by ELD Architecture together with Red House Building, located in Stowe, a town in northern Vermont. The ski trails of Stowe Mountain Resort appear to be only an arms-length away from the indoor and outdoor living spaces of this traditional mountain house. A pocketing lift-and-slide door opens the great room to the custom granite pool and patio.
The stone and cedar exterior complement the mountain surroundings. A finished basement contains a game room and family room for the family’s three teenage sons. A home office and exercise room take advantage of the space above the garage. A screened-in porch with a fireplace off the kitchen assures summer season dining will be pest-free. A custom gunite spa helps to take the edge off the coldest winter nights.

What We Love: This traditional mountain house blends timeless design with a thoughtfully selected material palette, creating a warm, inviting space ideal for the mountain living lifestyle. Heavily forested surroundings help to offer seclusion for this mountain refuge, offering a peaceful escape and a deep connection to nature. We especially love the living room with its stone-clad fireplace and sliding glass doors that help to blur the boundaries between indoors and out. This space is amazing all through the seasons, in the summer you have fresh breezes, and in the winter, plenty of natural light… and of course, a toasty fireplace!
