This lakeside retreat was designed by Myefski Architects along with Hickman Design Associates, nestled on the shores of Lake Geneva, in a quaint resort community of Southeast Wisconsin. Consisting of 5,200 square feet, this family home inspires a coastal style elegance. The exterior facade of this beachy vacation pad boasts charming shingle-style architecture. The homeowners requested a lakeside retreat that was designed to be informal and welcoming.
The exterior facade of the dwelling has a timeless aesthetic, with expansive windows, detailed trim and terraces and porches with lakefront views. The outdoor spaces can accommodate both formal entertaining or a casual, lazy day enjoying the fresh breezes coming off the lake. Beautiful french doors connects the lakeside front porch to the great room. On the second level, both the master bedroom suite and guest bedroom have their own private balconies with heavenly lake views.
The architects gave close attention to detail by creating intimate living spaces that allows the family to connect and experience the calming feel of a small lakeside abode. “The color palette, fabrics, wallcoverings, and artwork juxaposed with coffered and beamed ceilings, tongue-and-grove details, and substantial millwork create a modern twist on the classic beach house by including nods to nautical themes in sophisticated ways,” states the architects.
On the main level, an open and spacious great room houses the living, dining and kitchen areas. It has a sense of coziness mainly due to its material selection and bright and airy layout. The great room is the epitome of family-friendly—as it offers the family a space where they can relax and comfortably enjoy spending time together on this lakefront oasis.

Above: The kitchen was designed to be ultra-functional for this family with three young children. They enjoy entertaining regularly, so it needed to be equipped to handle dinner parties. A center island allows for a free-flow of both family and guests, so they can easily transition to the living and dining areas.
