Casa Pakaal is a historic retreat that was beautifully reimagined by Workshop Arquitectos, nestled in the heart of Merida, in the northwest corner of the Yucatán Peninsula, Mexico. With roots dating back to the early 20th century, this stunning 3,767-square-foot residence has undergone an extensive contemporary transformation.

Upon crossing the “stone bridge,” a lush small garden greets you, connecting the kitchen to the covered terrace. Meticulous efforts were taken to preserve the ancient ruins while seamlessly integrating new materials and construction techniques. This harmonious blend results in a stunning architectural masterpiece, featuring a framework of metal “I” beams settled on the old masonry walls.

In the main bedroom, guests can enjoy a picturesque view of the pool and the majestic hundred-year-old Ramón trees. To echo this enchanting scenery, the pasta tile floor is painted in a tranquil green-blue hue, mirroring the pool water and the verdant leaves of the trees.
