Nestled within a lush, wooded landscape, this remarkable modern pavilion home, skillfully crafted by Baylis Architects, is located in the Grand Ridge Neighborhood of Issaquah Highlands. This planned community and mixed-use neighborhood can be found in Issaquah, a charming suburb situated just outside of Seattle, Washington.

Boasting 5,500 square feet of opulent living space, the architects’ dedication to preserving the existing trees on the property is evident. This three-level residence was thoughtfully positioned within a modest clearing, ensuring year-round sun exposure for its outdoor living spaces. Embedded into a small knoll the residence appears to project out of the site and into the wooded surroundings. The use of sloping metal roofs, architectural concrete walls, and cedar siding creates the overall feeling of a “Pavilion in the Woods”.

What We Love: This beautiful pavilion home offers a warm and inviting interior layout with large windows that frame a forested landscape. Soaring ceilings help to create a bright and airy atmosphere while living spaces flow from one to the next courtesy of an open floor plan. We especially love the light-drenched living room, with its floor-to-ceiling fireplace and large sectional for family gatherings and entertaining. Despite this home’s contemporary design, it feels warm and inviting thanks to wooden elements throughout.

I like the house but am not fond of the cement columns which give the opposite feeling of the warm wood details.
