LDa Architecture & Interiors has undertaken a remarkable transformation, turning this family home in Weston, Massachusetts, into a warm and vibrant abode for a couple and their two young children. Collaborating closely with the homeowners, and even involving input from the kids, the architect orchestrated the transformation of their recently acquired developer-designed house into a completely personalized home.
Every detail was finely tuned to match the family’s unique style and lifestyle needs. In addition to renovating select spaces, the project entailed new furnishings and decor in every room with pops of color and graphic patterns.

The reimagined kitchen is proof that selected updates can have a big impact. Although the cabinetry and layout remained unchanged, the addition of a fresh backsplash, countertops, stylish pendants, hardware, and bronze accents on the range hood, along with a refreshed coat of paint on the millwork and the introduction of several new appliances, collectively breathe new life into the space.
Furthermore, a series of three pairs of oversized French doors replaced a wall of cabinets along the rear of the house. These doors open onto a newly constructed patio shaded by a pergola, dramatically enhancing the kitchen’s natural light and strengthening the connection between the home and its expansive backyard.
Many of the renovations in the home revolved around designing kid-friendly spaces for the family’s enjoyment. Right next to the kitchen, a sunroom that once existed was transformed into a sun-soaked playroom, featuring imaginative storage solutions for toys and games, vibrant furniture, and a play loft.

The owner’s bathroom underwent a dramatic transformation. It bid farewell to an oversized platform jacuzzi and a compact shower stall, making way for an elegant soaking tub and a spacious, glass-enclosed shower, creating a spa-like retreat.
In the adjacent space, two closets were merged, resulting in a sophisticated dressing room that complements the owner’s bedroom suite.
This project entailed the remodeling of seven bathrooms, each embracing a distinct style. The spectrum ranged from the playful charm of the basement bathroom with its lively yellow patterned wallpaper and penny tiles, to the daughter’s bathroom adorned with sweet floral wallpaper and a striking combination of bright red vanity, door, and mirror.
The guest bathroom exudes a touch of glamour with its gold accents and neutral tones.
In the previously unfinished basement, the additions encompass a snug media room equipped with a climbing wall, an arts and crafts bar, and a charming “playhouse” tucked away in a nook beneath the stairs. Furthermore, the basement hosts a spacious home theater complete with a retractable movie screen, a designated “stage” for performances, and theatrical lighting.
