An architect’s dream house: Lake home meets modern in Wisconsin

modern-home-exterior

This beautiful modern dream house was custom designed as an architect’s personal family home by West Luxe Design + Build Firm, located in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin. The architect is the founder of the firm and was responsible for every detail, beginning with the construction drawings and finishing with the interior furnishings.

With a clear vision in mind, the architect was in search of the perfect property, discovering this idyllic 1.02 acres lot with a backdrop of woods. It had a challenging natural topography and a grade change for a walkout basement. The two-story dwelling encompasses 5,669 square feet of living space with five bedrooms and five bathrooms.

The goal for this dwelling was to create a “lake house meets modern” aesthetic. This was partially achieved through the application of light wood flooring by Duchateau and an abundance of windows from Lincoln Windows โ€” providing plenty of natural light and views of the surrounding landscape.

Expansive walls of glazing flood the interiors with natural light, illuminating the high-end furnishings, relaxed material palette, and top-of-the-line finishes.

i think people need to get back to the (apparently old fashioned) idea of designing houses as places in which people will live and less about the idea of designing houses to look good in architectural blogs. for example, all the open space in many of these photos suggests that this house is way too large. and while “open” floor plans seem to be the order of the day, it could also help to rediscover the idea of partitioned spaces. entering this house through the front door would present a very “warehouse” feel. i like abundance of glazing; it creates… Read more »

I completely agree with “no comment”. At the very least wait to photograph the house until some minimum effort has been made to make it look less like an unoccupied penal institution.

That’s surely a dream house in Wisconsin. Beauty, Elegance, Artistry & home ambiance all combined so gracefully that it is hard to explain. Simply Mind blowing!!
