This stunning urban farmhouse-style home was updated for family living by Haven Design and Construction, located in Austin, Texas. When the owners purchased this new home, it was in need of a personal touch to reflect their personal style. The design concept was to furnish this dwelling with a mixture of modern clean lines and textural woven pieces.
The color scheme provides a beautiful mix of light against dark to create contrast. In the grand living room, a large iron chandelier was selected to anchor the space. The black iron of the chandelier is repeated in the black window trim of the large two-story windows. The original fireplace in this space was underwhelming, so it was reimagined with four slabs of Calcutta gold marble and butterfly bookmatched to add an attractive focal point.

Above: This black, gray, and gold urban farmhouse kitchen is the hub of the home for this busy family. The existing plain kitchen hood was switched out for an exquisite custom stainless hood with gold strapping and rivets. This created a much-needed focal point for this striking kitchen.
Above: The 36″ refrigerator was switched out for a roomier 42″ refrigerator and built-in matching paneled refrigerator cabinet. Antique gold linear hardware and black and gold lighting was added for a streamlined aesthetic.
What We Love: This urban farmhouse-style home was given a beautiful makeover to reflect the personal style is the homeowners. We are loving the stylish living spaces and soothing color palette to create a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. We are especially loving the gorgeous fireplace wall in the living room and the cozy children’s spaces to create a home that is sophisticated for entertaining yet playful for family living.

Above: This sophisticated study adds a touch of moodiness to the home. Custom-designed 12-foot high built-in bookcases and wainscoting bring some much-needed architectural detailing to the plain white space and 22′ tall walls. A hidden pullout drawer for the printer and additional file storage drawers add function to the home office.
Above: The windows are dressed in contrasting velvet drapery panels and simple sophisticated woven window shades. The woven textural element is picked up again in the area rug (Lulu and Georgia) the chandelier, and the caned guest chairs. The ceiling boasts patterned wallpaper with gold accents, sourced from Phillip Jeffries.

Above: The primary bath was dressed up with a new capiz shell chandelier over the tub, custom drapes with a patterned black and gold tape drapery trim, and a remote-controlled woven window shade. The bathroom was further enhanced with antique gold plumbing fixtures and cabinet hardware, which contrast beautifully against the dark cabinets. Custom mirror frames were added to fill the space over the vanity, while black and gold wall sconces add a touch of sophistication.

A comfortable cotton and linen glider and ottoman provide the perfect spot to rock a baby to sleep. A dresser with a changing table topper provides additional function, while adorable car artwork, a woven mirror, and a sheepskin rug provide the finishing touches and additional texture.
