The spacious screen porch provides a year-round family gathering spot, with windows that allow for screen or glass, depending on the season. The finished result is a new/old cabin that draws on fresh Scandinavian design influences, timber frame structure, and playful use of color to create a central hub for the next generation at this family camp.
The cabin mixes rustic and contemporary elements that seamlessly blend the re-imagined cabin with the original cabin space and new two-story addition. The rehabilitated cabin encompasses a living room, dining room, kitchen, and screened porch. The sleeping quarters are tucked into the other living spaces. The rebuilt cabin features three bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms, and just over 3,000 square feet of living space. An abundance of space to accommodate family and friends now and in the future.
What We Love: This serene rustic cabin in Minnesota blends historical and modern elements for a clean and timeless aesthetic. Some of the furnishings date back to the camp, such as the dining room table, and table in the hallway — a wonderful way to preserve the history of this beloved summer camp. The beautiful melding of past and present, old and new, creates a warm and inviting family summer retreat to enjoy for years to come.
Tell Us: What are your thoughts on the design of this cabin, would this be your idea of the ultimate lakeside dream retreat? Let us know in the Comments!
Note: Take a look at a couple of other lake house tours in the state of Minnesota that we have showcased here on One Kindesign: Inviting summer lake house in Minnesota offers dreamy waterfront views and Modern coastal dream home with inviting interiors on Lake Minnetonka.
For added warmth, this home features in-floor heating for the porch and the entryway, along with the lower level living spaces.
The majority of the wood used in this home is pine, while the dramatic wood and steel staircase is composed of Douglas Fir, as is the beams in the great room.
There is an abundance of built-ins throughout this home for simple and attractive storage, helping keep things organized.
