Hoedemaker Pfeiffer was enlisted to design this rustic camp-like retreat located on Whidbey Island, set in the Puget Sound, north of Seattle, Washington. This project demonstrates what happens when you focus on your strengths, defy convention and take a few risks. The demolition of half the house made room for a camp-like setting of grand indoor spaces for gathering.
Step outside to the great outdoors and you will find vast spaces for soaking up the sunshine and views or spend evening gathering around the fire pit. Bedrooms were replaced by a collection of wall tents that lose nothing in luxury and gain everything in the connection to the great outdoors.

What We Love: This camp-like retreat offers a tranquil setting for family gatherings with quaint architectural details both indoors and out. The design of this home encourages spending time outdoors, surrounded by magnificent views. We are especially loving the bedroom tents to give you the sense of an outdoor camping experience but with a touch of luxury — glamping!
Tell Us: What do you think of this island retreat, would this be your idea of the ultimate getaway to share with friends and family? Please share your thoughts in the Comments!
