McClean Design is responsible for the design of this opulent modern home set high above Sunset Boulevard, in Los Angles, California. Nestled on a 28,033-square-foot property, this home is surrounded by large home that are situated fairly close to each other. The architects biggest challenge for this sprawling 14,000 square foot, three-story home was how to make it fit into a single story community. The main level was dropped by eight feet to allow for the increase in floor area and keep the entire house within the required sixteen-foot height.

The entry features a basalt rotunda, separating the house from the street. An impressive two-story water wall spills into a water garden, while an infinity edge swimming pool offers the most spectacular skyline views. The form of the swimming pool is generated by the contours of the property and the maximum height allowed above grade. It was pushed to the extremities of the lot to increase buildable area and garden spaces.

The upper level was rotated ninety degrees to decrease visibility from the street, while enabling the creation of a rooftop deck on the otherwise green roof. The master bedroom was designed to cantilever over the garden, forming a covered patio space below. “The concept for living spaces is a glass pavilion with minimal walls, allowing a direct visual connection between the entry water garden and the pool beyond,” states the architect.

A basement garage area plays host to a car display space, a bar, a golf simulation room, and a cigar patio. This space also houses additional impressive features, including a media room, lounge, gym, staff quarters, and a kitchen. There is also a wellness area with a float tank and hydro-tub. Both exterior and interior walls of this opulent modern home feature Bardiglio marble. The interior material palette also includes black basalt, quartzite, oak and Palladio gray sandstone.

these over-the-top structures – that are more showpieces than they are places where someone would actually want to live on a daily basis – get boring after a while. there is a certain degree of “sameness” about them.

Vivo en VIGO (ESPAÑA) y estoy pensando en construir en una de las parcelas d mi propiedad.
?Sería posible que me facilitaras los planos y de ser así, cuanto me costaría¿
