This classic coastal beach house is designed by Geoff Chick & Associates in collaboration with builder Chris Clark, located in WaterSound, Florida. This three-story retreat is just three blocks from the beach, created as a family vacation home — for two families with eight kids between them. The vision for this dreamy beach house was to create a colorful, loud and lively atmosphere for family living and summertime enjoyment. There is a unique backstory for how this home came to be, as a place of healing and happiness. The beach house was planned by two-sister-in-laws, soon after one learned she had breast cancer.
Planning this retreat by the shore while going through chemo ended up becoming part of her therapy. As the house slowly took shape, the mother of four had something joyful to ponder, a happy place to envision with her children when the treatment was over. When the treatment was finished, hands-on projects added to the healing process. This included sewing pillows, draperies and trim and stenciled art for the walls. Stripes were painted on the bunk curtains and they even spray-painted the chairs in their dining room. Today she is cheerful and healthy, with this vibrant home to show for it!
