This transitional style home was renovated by architects Ekman Design Studio, set in Cherry Hills Village, a municipality located just south of Denver, Colorado. The project consists of a 9,000 square foot remodel of a 1977-built home into a more clean and timeless style. Originally, this residence was characterized by a patchwork of styles, from Colonial to French Country, a result of previous remodels that left the home lacking in a cohesive design style.
The design team set to work, cleaning up the floor plan and creating a more natural flow, while pulling together the additions that were original to the home. The exterior facade remained mostly preserved, while on the interior, the kitchen and breakfast room were opened up to the great room. A back staircase was completely rebuilt, which exposed the windows, flooding the interiors with natural light.
