Located in New York’s trendy TriBeCa neighborhood, this spectacularly designed contemporary loft by Chango & Co. features bright and airy living spaces. This project entailed transforming an open plan maisonette (a set of rooms for living that is typically two stories with its own entrance from the outside) in an old printing factory into a ‘gorgeous—yet cozy space’. This home is accessed through a private gated garden entrance.
The loft itself dates back to 1920, part of a redevelopment project of maisonettes that were completed in 2016. The design team was responsible for the interior design, custom furniture design, and art curation of this loft project. Created for a young family, the goal was to create an urban yet casual feel. Braided jute rugs, linen sofas and bleached woods adds warmth, while modern touches such as the angular light fixtures nods to the industrial architecture of the space.
The loft boasts 17-foot high ceilings and tall windows that expands 11-feet high, so the design team was challenged to make this expansiveness feel cozy. A wall of bookshelves with an integrated rolling library ladder helps, as does the wood flooring and planters filled with succulents. The designers infused a neutral color palette into the interiors, creating a cozy yet intimate feeling. A layering of textures adds visual interest.
What We Love: This contemporary loft offers an open and airy feel thanks to its soaring ceilings and tall windows. The living room was made to feel cozy with extra-long window treatments and a wall of built-ins personalized with accessories… and complimented by a dreamy library ladder! …Readers, please let us know what details in this home most inspires you and why!
