Impressive four-story home in San Francisco boasts LEED Platinum

Modern Architecture LEED Platinum Home-01-1 Kindesign

This striking modern four-story home was designed by John Maniscalco Architecture, located in the Russian Hill neighborhood of San Francisco, California. The design of this home has established LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum status, the highest level that can be achieved. This means the design team has devised innovative solutions that supports a healthy living environment and saves the homeowners money over the project’s life cycle.

With 5,800 square feet of living space, this beautiful residence boasts three bedrooms, five full bathrooms, three gas fireplaces, two outdoor gas fire pits—one on the roof deck and one in the garden. Along with a dramatic wood and steel staircase that connects all four levels, all the way to the rooftop deck, there is also an elevator. From the exterior facade, this home,”establishes an understated but dignified urban presence on an atypically wide San Francisco site,” states the architects.

Entering through the main door of the home from the street, one is greeted by a luminous, two-story glass-walled entry hall. An exquisite white stone staircase with a steel and wood handrail leads you into an airy and open main living area. As you continue to the other levels of the home, the stair treads change to wood, adding warmth to the interiors. Ultimately the staircase leads to the rooftop deck, where outdoor seating, a modern fire pit and green roof awaits. Glass guardrails provides transparency, allowing for panoramic views of the San Francisco skyline and beyond to the Golden Gate Bridge and Bay.

On the interior of this residence, an open plan living space caters to both casual living and formal entertaining. On the lower level, an entertainment room features sliding glass doors that retract, creating a seamless transition to a private garden with a fountain and fire pit. On the upper level, a cantilevered staircase and glass-floored catwalk provides a division of spaces between the master suite and two additional bedrooms, both with private bathrooms.

What We Love: This modern four-story home features bright and airy living spaces from a skylight on the rooftop deck, which travels through the central core. Modern and sophisticated aesthetics makes this home perfect for entertaining in style. Although in an urban area, this home has managed to offer privacy and comfort with an enclosed garden on the lower level. The rooftop deck is the perfect spot to enjoy the city, with the added ambiance of a glowing fire pit… Readers, please share with us what details of this home you love and why in the comments below!

The Henson Counter Stools set along the center island were sourced from Arteriors Home. The rustic stools adds an organic element to the space, while also helping to bridge the gap between light and dark.
